About
16th-century imperial mosque by architect Sinan, on a hill overlooking the Golden Horn.
Commissioned by Suleiman the Magnificent and completed in 1557, it displays sober, harmonious architecture. The spacious interior welcomes worshippers under cascading domes. The adjacent cemetery houses the sultan's tomb and his wife Roxelana's. The terrace offers fine city views.
