About

Edo-period garden with saltwater pond on the site of a 17th-century shogun villa.

This public garden laid out in the Edo period occupies the former estate of a 17th-century shogun. Its saltwater pond, fed by Tokyo Bay, and meticulously pruned pines provide a peaceful retreat amid skyscrapers. A traditional teahouse stands at the center of the pond.
