About
Imposing 11th-century gate guarded by carved figures, traditional entrance to Mount Koya.
This tall wooden structure marks the symbolic entrance to Koyasan's sacred domain. Two carved guardians stand watch on each side. The site offers fine views, especially at sunset. A classic starting point for exploring the holy mountain.
